Each Monday at 12 o’clock, Years 1 and 2 combine for sport, PE skills and dance activities. There are seven mixed Year 1 and 2 groups which rotate every two weeks. Each of the seven participating teachers is responsible for one of the skill areas which are to be taught as the Physical Education program (part of the PD, H and PE syllabus). The seven areas covered are Dance, Gym, Ball skills, Relays, Aerobics, Games and Endurance and Stamina.
Years 3 and 4 join together for weekly sporting activities each Friday. These
hour-long sessions involve skills training and modified games suitable for each
group. Sporting activities include:
Athletics training [High Jump, Long Jump, Sprinting, Relays, Shot Put]
· Soccer
· Australian Rules
· Volleyball
· Hockey
· Basketball
· Netball
· T-Ball
· Cricket
A Dance program is also incorporated into these Friday sessions.
Junior Sport complements class fitness and Physical Education programs. The skills and sportsmanship prepare our Year 3 & 4 students for competitive sport which is part of the Year 5 & 6 sport program.
