Gifted and Talented Education

Albury Public School has a responsibility to educate all students to their potential.

Albury Public School is committed to high quality educational outcomes for all gifted and
talented students who attend our school.

Definitions

This policy adopts definitions of giftedness and talent based on Gagné’s (2003)

Differentiated Model of Giftedness and Talent (DMGT).

Gifted students are those whose potential is distinctly above average in one or

more of the following domains of human ability: intellectual, creative, social and

physical.

Talented students are those whose skills are distinctly above average in one or more areas of human performance.

(Policy and implementation strategies for the education of gifted and talented students 2004 NSW DET)

At Albury Public School we aim:
to establish a process through which to identify gifted and talented students.

to identify gifted and talented students through a variety of means.

to develop appropriate whole school and classroom programs for our gifted and talented students.

to encourage access to appropriate professional development through inservice training, internet research,
    professional reading and community resources.

to foster collaborative home school partnerships to support gifted and talented students at our school.

Implementation
