Computer Education forms part of the Key Learning
Area of Science and Technology, but has application to all KLA's.
All classrooms have computers and printers which are used for a
range of educational purposes.
Key Learning Areas.
In addition to classroom computers, Albury Public School has three
computer laboratories of 16 computers: - in the Castle, the Annexe
and the Library. Classes use these resources weekly for a sequential
development of computer skills. Each year a computer budget is used
to maintain and update equipment.
Additional technology used to enhance computing lessons includes
Interactive Whiteboards, Data Projectors, Digital Cameras and
Scanners.
Software used to develop skills, knowledge and understanding
includes the Microsoft Office Suite, simulation software (eg Kahootz),
Photostory, Typequick, specific packages targeting KLA's (eg Words
Rock, Spellforce and Numbers Up).
To enable students to showcase their best work we have established
an Intranet based on Stu's Eduweb. Students can include all forms of
computer-based publishing in their own personal web pages which are
available for viewing within the school network environment.
The computer laboratories and the classroom computers can also be used to
access the Internet.
From Term 4, 2006 all students accessing the Internet will be
required to log-in to the secure Internet browsing system
established by the Department of Education. Student email will also
be available within this secure environment.
At the beginning of each year the computer teacher will read and
discuss the APS 'Student Computer and Internet Code of Behaviour'
with all classes. Students will be asked to sign the contract before
using the computers or the Internet.
